Choice City Butcher and Deli is organizing
their second annual Colorado Beer Connoisseurs Tasting, featuring the finest
Colorado beers. This event will be held Friday June 24th, the Friday
before the Colorado Brewer's Festival. During this weekend there
will be thousands of beer aficionados from all over the country in Fort
Collins. Choice City Butcher and Deli wants to capture some of these
people for an exclusive connoisseur's tasting in a relaxed professional
setting. Like last year, a representative from each selected Colorado
brewery will be pouring two of their best specialty beers. These beers
are far from the regular swill that is represented during the weekend festival.
Most Colorado breweries are now developing barrel aged beers and using
brettanomyes in their brewing process. This is a timely and costly
production for them and, as such, these beers are usually not available
in bars (excluding Choice City Butcher of course).
Due to the high demand for tickets last
year along with the small occupancy available at Choice City, the event
will be moved to the Aggie Theater. Adequate space will be available
to take the event to the next level. The owner of Choice City Butcher,
Russ Robinson, has extensive knowledge of beer events and festivals.
Every beer tasting and dinner they have held has been sold out prior to
the event. In 2010, ratebeer.com gave them the #12th spot in the
world on the best restaurant beer list. In 2011 they received the
rank of #9.
Ticket prices for the event will be $50
per person. This price will include a souvenir glass and 18 two-ounce
pour tickets. Choice City Butcher and Deli is also organizing educational
seminars during the event. They will be offering light hors d'oeuvres
during the first hour of the event and will also have a service stand available
for food purchase.
